Survey Description


Approximately 200 till samples were collected on the Wollaston Peninsula, southwest Victoria Island in 1982, 1983 and 1987.  The data are published in GSC Memoir 434.

Data Description:

Paper report.

Quantities Analysed:

<0.002 mm fraction by AAS after nitric-aqua regia for 7 elements; by fluorometric method for U and by colorimetric method for As.

Geochem Maps Available:

Contour maps show the dispersal of elements.

Other Analyses:

Grain size (<2 mm); carbonate (<0.063 mm by LECO); heavy mineral concentrate for point counts.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 87A, C, D, E, F on the Wollaston Peninsula, southwest Victoria Island, Nunavut and Northwest Territories.  It is bounded by Coronation Gulf to the south and by Prince Albert Sound and Kagloryuak River to the north.
