Survey Description


A soil sampling survey was conducted in the Acton Vale area, Quebec.  The area covers 267 km 2.  A total of 2444 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.1 km 2.  Samples were collected in 3 phases and analyzed for:

Samples collected in 1971 were reanalyzed for Ba, Li (ICP-ES) and As, Hg (atomic absorption).

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 31H/9 (Richmond), /10 (Saint-Hyacinthe).  The Acton-Vale area is in the Estrie region.  It includes the cities of Saint-Hyacinthe and Richmond.  It is bounded by latitudes 45°36'40" and 45°45' and longitudes 72°22'25" and 72°45'.
