Survey Description

During the summer of 1985, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted by the Compagnie nationale de forage et de sondage along the Rivière Assémetquagan.  A total of 71 collected sites were located on the riverbanks at approximately 1 km between each location.  In addition, samples were collected on 56 sites of the river tributaries, at 30 m of their mouth.  On each site, 2 samples were collected.

Stream sediments were screened at -177 microns and analyzed for:

Element Dissolution Technique
Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni, Co, Mn, Ag, Fe, Mo   atomic absorption
Loss on ignition (LOI)
Au, As, W, U   neutron activation

Heavy minerals (density>2.85 g/cc) were analyzed for:

Element Dissolution Technique
Au, As, W, Sb, Co, U   neutron activation

The data are published in Open File MB 86-22, Department of Energy and Resources, 1986.
