Survey Description


In 1970, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the Réservoir Cabonga east area, Parc de la Vérendrye, Quebec.  The area covers 5000 km2. A total of 4826 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per km2 and analysed for:

The data are published in Open File DP-83-20, Department of Energy and Resources, 1984.  Data were first published as rolling means maps, sample locations and geologic compilation in special report S-138, Department of Natural Resources, 1972.  This survey is part of a compilation DV 87-22, published in 1987.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 31N/1 (Lac de l'Ecorce), /2 (Lac Jean-Père), /7 (Reservoir Cabonga), /8 (Lac St-Amour), /9 (Lac Landron), /10 (Lac Bouchette) and 31O/4 (Lac Petawaga), /5 (Lac Wapus), /6 (Lac Duplessis), /12 (Lac des Augustines). The Réservoir Cabonga region is located in the La Vérendrye Park, Pontiac, Montcalm, Gatineau and Joliette counties. It is bounded by latitudes 47°04' and 47°36'50" and longitudes 75°25' and 76°45'.
