In the summer of 1970, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the Magpie, St-Jean and Romaine rivers region, Quebec. The area covers 35,000 km2. A total of 578 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 60.5 km2 and analysed for:
|Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni, Co, Mn, Ag||
|atomic absorption (AAS)|
The data are published in geological report RG-163, Department of Natural Resources, 1975. This report is the third of a series of 3 publications following a geological reconnaissance program in the Grenville Province, known as the "Grenville Project".

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:
Covers all of NTS 22I (Lac Manitou), most of 22P (Lac Fournier) and parts of 12L (Havre-Saint-Pierre), /M (Lac de Morhiban). It is bounded by latitudes 50o15' and 52o and longitudes 63o and 66o. The north shore of the St.-Lawrence River marks the southern limit of the area. The small part of the area belonging to Labrador and Newfoundland was not mapped.
