Survey Description

In 1972, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the Fort McKenzie, Chute aux Schistes and Moraine Lake areas, Quebec.  The area covers 1600 km2.  A total of 418 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 3.8 km2 and analysed for Cu, Zn, Pb, Co, Ni, Mn.

The data are published in preliminary report RP-608, Department of Natural Resources, 1975.  This survey is also part of a compilation published in Geological Report RG-195 in 1979.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 24C/11 (east) (Chute aux Schistes), /14 (east) (Lac de la Moraine), /15 (Fort-Mackenzie).  The Fort McKenzie, Chute aux Schistes and Lac de la Moraine areas are comprised within latitudes 56o45' and 57oand longitudes 68o30' and 69o15'.  It includes Rivière Caniapiscau, Lac Canichico and Lac Colombet.
