Survey Description


In 1984, stream sediments were collected by Three-D GeoConsultants Ltd. in the Heath Steele area of northern New Brunswick.  The -80 mesh fraction of the samples was analysed by atomic absorption by NB Department of Forests, Mines and Energy using a hot nitric acid digestion.

The data are presented on a series of NB DFME Map Plates: MP 86-106a to e, MP 86-107a-e, MP 86-108a-e and MP 86-109a-e.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers the east half of NTS 21O/8 (California Lake) just west into 21P/5 (Nepisiguit Falls; 1 sample) in northern New Brunswick.  It is bounded to the north by 47.5° N and to the west by 66.25° W.  The former Heath Steele Mine is located in the southeast corner of the study area.
