Survey Description


Till samples were collected from 299 sites in the Hayesville map area, central New Brunswick in 2004.  The data are published in New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources Open File 2005-10.

Sampling Procedure

Samples pits were excavated by shovel and rock pick.  Samples were collected using either the shovel or rock pick, or a stainless steel hunting knife.  Samples were collected from 0.1 m or more below the top of the C-horizon.  Approximately 5 kg of C-horizon material was collected.  A small bag of B-horizon soil was also collected at most sites.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 21J/10 (Hayesville) in central New Brunswick.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 28 km northeast of the rural village (unincorporated area) of Napadogan.
