Survey Description

In July 1976, centre lake bottom sediments were collected at 1294 sites from a 3900 km2 area on the Burin Peninsula, Newfoundland.  The data were published in Newfoundland Department of Mines and Energy Open Files NFLD/944 (uranium only) and 1M/166.

Samples were reanalyzed by INAA and published with other reanalyses from NTS 1L and 1M in Open Files 1L/136 and 1M/312 respectively.

Sampling Procedure

Samples were collected from the central portions of lakes using a lead-weighted steel pipe-like sampler and winch mounted on a Bell 206A helicopter.
