Survey Description


Placer gold occurrences have been reported from Quaternary sand and gravel deposits in the Manigotagan area, eastern Manitoba.  In 1986, detailed sampling was undertaken in the area and a total of 55 samples were collected at 3 sites.  The sampling medium was not stated.

In 1987, 22 regional samples (9 littoral sand and 13 till samples) were collected from 21 sites in the English Brook area, located up-ice from the 1986 sampling area.  Detailed sampling was carried out near the placer occurrence where an additional 62 sand samples were collected from 21 backhoe pits.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers part of NTS 62P/1 (English Brook), eastern Manitoba.  Highway 304 runs east-west through the southern part of the study area and English Lake is located approximately 1 km northeast of its northeast corner.
