BVM AQ250-EXT ICP-MS, aqua regia digestion (53 elements)



BVM, AQ250-EXT Suite (53 elements) 0.5 g.  The samples were analysed using a Perkin Elmer Elan 6000 or 9000 ICP mass spectrometer.

Detection limits for all the elements are identical to those reported in BVM’s 2017 Price Brochure.  Detection limits for two elements are incorrectly reported in GSC Open Files 8017 and 8026:

  • U detection limit: 0.05 ppm (0.1 ppm in brochure)
  • W detection limit 0.05 ppm (0.1 ppm in brochure)

 

General Methodology:

BVM AQ250-EXT Suite ( 53 elements)

A 0.5 g sample is weighed into a test tube for sample digestion.  A modified aqua regia solution of equal parts concentrated ACS grade HCl and HNO3 and demineralized water is added to each sample (6 ml/g) to leach in a hot-water bath (~95°C) for one hour.  After cooling, the solution is made up to a final volume with 5% HCl.  Sample weight to solution volume ratio is 0.5 g per 10 ml.  The solution is aspirated into a Perkin Elmer Elan 6000 or 9000 ICP mass spectrometer.
