GSC NASGLP bulk density

Bulk density is determined by taking a core sample of known volume, and weighing it after drying at 105°C.

General Methodology:

A separate undisturbed core sample is collected in the field using a clear lexan cylinder that has a bevelled cutting edge.  The sample is extruded into a tin container on which the length and diameter of the core is recorded.  In the lab the sample is oven dried at 105°C for 1 to 2 days, until the weight is constant.
