General Methodology:

Heavy mineral samples were analysed by ICP-ES. Sample material is placed into solution using an aqua regia (partial) extraction.  Solutions are then introduced into a radio frequency excited plasma where each element in the solution produces a characteristic spectrum.  The intensity of the spectral lines is directly proportional to the quantity of the element in solution (Activation Labs, 1997)
