Barringer (stream sediment) atomic absorption spectroscopy -TOPO (tin)

General Methodology:

Tin in stream sediments was determined by heating a 200 mg sample with NH4I.  The sublimed SnI4 was dissolved in acid and the tin determined by atomic absorption spectrometry after solvent extraction of the tin into methyl isobutyl ketone containing trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO).  Welsch and Chao (1976) describe the method.
