General Methodology:

Magnesium in waters was determined by inductively coupled plasma emission spectroscopy.  An aliquot from the sample bottle was transferred to a separate container and aspirated directly into the ICP spectrometer (Instrumentation Laboratory model 200).  Measurements were made at 279.8 nm.  The instrument was calibrated with aqueous standards.
