General Methodology:

Uranium in water was determined by laser-induced fluorometry with the Scintrex UA-3.  A 500 μL aliquot of the metaphosphate-pyrophosphate 'Fluran' buffer was added to 5 mL of the sample and left to equilibrate for 24 hours. The fluorescence of the uranyl phosphate formed was measured by the method of standard additions following a nullification of any signal from organic fluorescence.
