GSC electron microprobe (DIAMOND, OXIDES)



GSC electron microprobe analysis using the DIAMOND program for silicates and the OXIDES programs for oxides.

General Methodology:

GSC Electron Microprobe. Analysis is carried out using a Cameca SX50 electron microprobe using the DIAMOND routine for the silicates (garnets, clinopyroxene, olivine) and the SPINELS routine for the oxides. Raw data is processed using the Cameca PAP program (Pouchou and Pichoir, 1984). Microprobe data were sorted and classified according to chemical composition with threshold values being presented in GSC Open File 3769. A table summarizing the operating conditions of the microprobe follows;
