ODM Heavy Mineral Concentration and grain separation-VG counts [#2]
Overburden Drilling Management Heavy Mineral Concentrations and grain separation-Samples are sieved to < 1.7 mm. ¼ of sample concentrates sent for analysis (L86-01-23), the entire concentrate sent for analysis with samples FL8901-03).
Overburden Drilling Management indicator mineral grain separation. The sample is split into a series of fractions as a precursor to mineral grain identification. This procedure is slightly different than the standard ODM flow chart.
A sample is disaggregated and screened with a 1.7 mm mesh . The < 1.7 mm fraction is pre-concentrated with respect to density using a shaker table. Samples are run twice through the shaking table and the concentrates are then panned, and gold grains are picked and counted and classified based on grain shape. The table concentrate is then put through diluted methylene iodide (specific gravity of 3.3) and the heavy mineral concentrate (HMC) is collected. The HMC is ferromagnetically separated. Samples from 1989 were not split.
