De Beers heavy mineral concentrate and grain separation. Grains are processed through 2 dense media separators, dried and sieved for indicator mineral processing.

General Methodology:

DeBeers heavy mineral concentration and grain sorting. Samples are weighed, gently milled to remove clay and vegetation, screened to greater than 2 mm, 0.3 – 2 mm, and less tha 0.3 mm. The 0.3-2 mm fraction is fed into a Mini Dense Media Separator (DMS) where minerals with a specific gravity greater than 2.9 g/cm3 are collected as a sink fraction. The light fraction is discarded. The heavy mineral concentrates are then put through a Micro DMS and minerals with a specific gravity grater than 3.15 g/cm3 were collected as a sink fraction. The heavies and lights are retained for analysis. Micro sink aliquots are dried and sieved into fractions 0.3-0.5 mm, 0.5-1.0 mm and 1.0-2.0 mm and sent for probing and analysis.
