ODM Heavy Mineral Concentration and grain separation 0.25-2 mm fraction

Overburden Drilling Management heavy mineral separation 0.25-2.0 mm fraction sent for processing.

General Methodology:

Overburden Drilling Management (ODM) VG counts and HMC separation 0.25-2 mm fraction.

A sample of variable weight is disaggregated, screened with a 2 mm sieve and pre-concentrated with respect to density using a shaker table. The > 2 mm fraction is analyzed for lithologic content. Samples are run through the shaking table and the concentrates are then panned, and gold grains are picked, classified based on shape (DiLabio, 1990) and counted. Gold grains are not put back into the table concentrate but put in vials for further examination under the SEM. The table concentrate is then put through diluted methylene iodide (specific gravity of 3.2) and the heavy mineral concentrate (HMC) is collected. The HMC is ferromagnetically separated and screened with a 0.25 mm sieve. Numerous weights are recorded during the procedure, as listed in the table below:
