Carleton University electron microprobe. Garnet, Mg-ilmenite and chromite are analysed using a CAMECA Camebax electron microprobe.

General Methodology:

Carleton University electron microprobe analysis.  Analysis is carried out using a CAMECA Camebax 4 spectrometer, wavelength dispersive electron microprobe.  Raw data are processed using the Cameca PAP program (Pouchou and Pichoir, 1984).  Operating conditions are detailed in GSC Open File 5800.  A table summarizing the opeating conditions follows:

Operating conditions are optimised for the mineral being analysed, and the suite of oxides that are measured vary accordingly (up to 13 oxides from a list of 16).
