ACME ICP-MS (Group 1F-MS Basic Suite v1)



Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) analysis of 37 trace elements (Group 1F-MS Basic Suite) was performed on the till samples.  The analyses were performed by ACME Analytical Laboratories Ltd., Vancouver, British Columbia.

General Methodology:

Acme Group 1F-MS Basic Suite (37 elements)

A 15 gram sample split was digested in aqua regia.  Occasionally, smaller sample weights were used.  Aqua regia was added to the sample bottle in the ration of 3 ml per gram of sample.  The aqua regia was a 2:2:2 mixture of ACS grade concentrated HCl, concentrated HNO3 and distilled water.  Sample solutions were heated for one hour in a boiling hot water bath (95°C).  The solutions were then diluted to a 20:1 ml/gram ratio.  Calibration standards and reagent blanks were added to the sample sequence.  A reagent blank was carried in parallel through leaching and analysis.

The samples were analysed using an Elan 6000 ICP mass spectrometer.  An attached computer corrected the data for interference and drift.  Raw data were reviewed by the instrument operator and by the laboratory information management system.  The data were subsequently reviewed and adjusted by the Data Verification Technician.  Finally, all documents and data underwent a verification by a British Columbia Certified Assayer who then signed the Analytical Report before releasing it to the client.
