Evaluation of the Regional Mineral Potential (Non-Hydrocarbon) of the Western Arctic Region

The report, consisting of 25 text pages and 9 figures, was prepared by members of the Economic Geology Subdivision of the Geological Suvey of Canada in response to a request by the Committee for Original Peoples’ Entitlement (COPE). It provides an initial qualitative evaluation of a large region in the Western Arctic in which mineral occurrences are sparse and geological information is generally outlined only at a reconnaissance level. Small-scale maps illustrate the distribution of mineral occurrences and outline areas that are considered to be relatively favourable for the occurrence of lead, zinc, copper and uranium.

This file is available for viewing at all the libraries of the Geological Suvey of Canada and at the Resident Geologist’s Office, Department of Indian and Northern Affairs, 200 Range Road, Whitehorse, Yukon Territory and the Resident Geologist’s Office, Department of Indian and Northern Affairs, Bellanca Building, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

A limited number of bound copies are available for purchase from the GSC sales offices in Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver.

Price: Canada - $2.50; Other Countries - $3.00; No free distribution.
