Hydrogeochemistry study in the Hornby Basin, Great Bear Lake region, Northwest Territories by C.C. Durham.

          This file relates to a hydrogeochemical orientation study in the Hornby Basin, Great Bear Lake region, N.W.T. (parts of NTS 86J, K, N and O). The work was carried out to test hydrogeochemical methods of exploration for uranium in Proterozoic sandstone terrane and to test rapid methods of lake water sampling by helicopter. A total area of 6600 km 2 was sampled at an average density of one sample per 5 km 2. The field work was carried out in 1975 and the analytical work completed in 1976.

          The file comprises four maps at a scale of 1:250,000, showing the distribution of uranium, copper, zinc and pH in surface waters. These will be placed on Open File for inspection from 1:00 p.m. EDT (and equivalent local times) on June 22, 1977 at the libraries of the Geological Survey of Canada in Ottawa, Calgary, Dartmouth, Vancouver, Resident Geologist, Department of Indian and Northern Affairs, Yellowknife, and also at the Public Service Centre, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Whitney Block, Queen's Park, Toronto, Ontairo. Copies of the material may also be obtained at the user's expense by application to Campbell Quickprint, 880 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1R 6K7.
