Geochemical orientation studies in Southern Baffin Island by Y.T. Maurice

          This report presents the results of an orientation geochemical survey carried out in two areas of southern Baffin Island during the 1975 field season. The first area covers about 1500 square miles of southern Foxe Peninsula and the report includes field and analytical data on lake and stream waters and sediments, soils and rocks. The second area is located in the more hilly Meta Incognita Peninsula; about 250 square miles were surveyed by lake and stream waters and sediment sampling in that area.

          The data are presented in the form of 27 computer listings accompanied by eight sample location maps and six element distribution maps (U and Cu in lake sediments in various areas). A brief description of field and analytical techniques with relevant explanatory remarks regarding presentation and some statistical data are included.

          The release will be placed on Open File for inspection 21 March 1977 at the library of the Geological Survey of Canada and copies may be obtained at the user's expense from Campbell Quickprint, 880 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1R 6K7.
