Airborne Radioactivity Maps and Profiles

Contour maps and profiles of radioactivity data obtained with the GSC gamma-ray spectrometer system, are being released for an area of approximately 1474 km 2, located along the edge of the Athabasca Formation (59º00’-59º11’ N; 104º00-105º20’ W) Black Lake area, northern Saskatchewan. The release comprises seven contour maps, at a scale of 1:50 000 showing total count, uranium, thorium and potassium concentrations, and U/Th, U/K and Th/K ratios and profiles, also at a scale of 1: 50 000 of the 7 radioactivity parameters for each of the 99 north-south flight lines that were flown at 0.5 mile (0.8 km) line spacing.

The surveys for Open Files 258 and 259 were carried out under the Canada-Saskatchewan Agreement on Mineral Exploration and Development in Northern Saskatchewan during the summer of 1974. They will be available for inspection from 1:00 p.m. E.D.T. May 1, 1975 (and equivalent local times) at the libraries of the Geological Suvey of Canada and also at: Department of Mineral Resources, 12 th Floor, Toronto Dominion Bank Building, Hamilton Street and 12 th Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan and its field offices at La Ronge, Uranium City, and Creighton, Saskatchewan.
