Geochemical orientation surveys were carried out across the Beaver Dam gold deposit and Mill Shaft gold occurrence in 1986 to determine which surficial sample medium and which element(s) would be most effective in identifying additional gold mineralization within the Meguma Terrane along the eastern shore of Nova Scotia.  Soil, till and bedrock was sampled.  A summary of the work can be found in Prospecting in Areas of Glaciated Terrain – 1988.
