Northern Manitoba reanalysis project, 2007

Project Description

Approximately 420 till samples were collected over an area of approximately 125,000 km 2 in northern Manitoba during mapping projects in the 1970s and 1980s.  The silt + clay fraction of 158 of the archived samples was reanalysed by ICP-ES and INAA in order to obtain a more complete inventory of the geochemical nature of surface tills.  Most of the samples come from NTS 54E, F, L and some from 64J, N, O.  More than half of the original samples could not be retrieved from the Geological Survey of Canada archive, so there is a major gap in the regional coverage of the reanalysed samples.

The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 5546.
