Pine Point Indicator Mineral Project, Northwest Territories, 2010-2011.
During the summers of 2010 and 2011, till, stream sediment and bedrock samples were collected in the Pine Point area, Northwest Territories to document the indicator mineral signatures of Mississippi Valley-Type (MVT) deposits. Pine Point deposits were chosen as MVT indicator mineral test sites because: the deposits and district geology are well known; the deposits subcrop and thus were exposed to direct glacial erosion; the deposits are till-covered; and, the deposits are easily accessible by road.
The following open files were published:
|Sample Type||GSC Open File||Contents|
|Bedrock, stream sediment, till||7267||Raw indicator mineral abundance data|
|Till and bedrock||7423||Indicator minerals|
Geochemical data for the stream sediment samples will be published in a subsequent open file.

Funding was provided by the Geo-mapping for Energy and Minerals program. Teck Resources Limited provided financial support as part of a GEM NSERC-CRD (collaborative research and development grant).
