Preliminary study on the distribution of trace elements in heavy minerals, Chaudières-Appalaches area, 1971.

Project Description

This project is being carried out to study the correlation between the distribution of certain elements in heavy minerals and metallic mineralization in the same regions.  The goal is to determine if heavy minerals can be used as geochemical exploration tool.

To study variability among mineral deposit types, sampling was carried out around stratiform copper-lead-zinc deposits at the Cupra, Solbec and Weedon mines in the townships of Stratford and Weedon, as well as around tungsten mineralization in quartz veins at the abandoned St-Robert-Bellarmin scheelite mine, township of Marlow.
