Analytical Package Description

Laboratory: CANTECH Laboratories, Calgary, Alberta

Humus samples were dry sieved using an 8 inch sieve shaker.  The <177 µm fraction was analysed for 9 trace elements (Ag, Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn) using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) with an air acetylene flame.  Mo and V were analysed by atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) using a nitrous oxide acetylene flame.  Mercury analysis was done by cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (Hg-CVAAS) using a modified Hatch and Ott procedure.  Loss on ignition (LOI) was also determined for the humus samples.  The analyses were performed by CANTECH Laboratories in Calgary, Alberta.
