The regional stream survey for west central Yukon (NTS 116B and parts of 116C, 116F and 116G) was conducted during the summers of 1976 and 1977.

This report presents analytical and statistical data for gold and 25 other elements obtained by re-analyzing stream sediments from 1,738 sites, collected at an average density of one sample per 13.8 km². Original analytical data selected from Open File 520 (published 1978) for 13 elements plus uranium, fluoride, and pH values in concomitant waters are also included in this report.

The original reconnaissance surveys were managed by the Geological Survey of Canada under the Uranium Reconnaissance Program. Fisheries and Environment Canada provided funds for the original determination of mercury. The reanalysis program was undertaken under the Canada - Yukon Economic Programming Agreement (1989-1990).

E.H.W. Hornbrook directed the original survey.

P.W.B. Friske coordinated the activities of contract and Geological Survey of Canada staff under the reanalysis program.

Other information:

Sediments collected in 1977 (Open File 520) were analyzed for Hg in addition to 12 other elements.

Stokes Exploration Management Co., Vancouver, BC provided a cook and subcontracted for helicopter services in 1977.

Data for NTS 1:50,000 map sheets 116B/06, 116B/07, 116B/08,116B/09, 116B/10, 116B/11, 116B/16 and 116G/01appeared in Open File 418, published in 1977, were republished in Open File 520 (1978) and, with INAA reanalysis data, in Open File 2365 (1991).
