HMC separation (ODM, SG 3.3)
The heavy mineral concentrates were prepared by Overburden Drilling Management. Sample processing was designed for recovery of gold and sulphide grains, rather than kimberlite indicator minerals. It can be roughly estimated that about 30% of the KIMs would have been lost at the shaker table. Additional grains, chrome diopsides in particular, would have been lost due to the use of undiluted methylene iodide at a specific gravity of 3.3.
