HMC 0.25-0.5 mm fraction (2nd run)

Keyword Definition

Shaker table second run

Typically, the heavy minerals concentrates that are picked for indicator minerals have been preconcentrated by gravity separation using a shaker table.  One popular model of table is the “Wilfley table”.  After this initial separation, there is a second stage of separation using heavy liquids.  For the gravity table separation, material is typically run across the shaker table twice, and the heavy minerals from the two runs are combined into a single sample prior to heavy liquid separation.  In order to evaluate the processing method, in this sample preparation method, the mineral grains from the second shaker table run were kept separate from the first run.  The second run did not yield any grains larger than 0.5 mm.
