Titaniferous Magnetite

Titaniferous magnetite (Fe2+(Fe3+,Ti)2O4) is a solid solution of magnetite (Fe2+Fe3+ 2O4) and ulvospinel (Fe2+ 2TiO4).  TiO2 content is limited to ≤ 18 wt %.

Some indicator mineral grains that have been identified as titaniferous magnetite may be alteration products of ilmenite (FeTiO3).
