Augite

Augite is a solid solution in the clinopyroxene group, with the formula (Ca,Na)(Mg,Fe,Al)(Si,Al)2O6. Diopside (CaMgSi2O6) and hedenbergite (CaFeSi2O6) are important endmembers in augite, but augite can also contain significant aluminium, titanium, sodium and other elements.
