**Chrome Diopside**

Diopside is a member of the clinopyroxene group, with the general formula XY(Si,Al)_{2}O_{6} (where X represents Ca, Na, Fe^{2+}, Mg and more rarely Zn, Mn and Li and Y represents ions of smaller size, such as Cr, Al, Fe^{3+}, Mg, Mn, Sc, Ti, V and even Fe^{2+}). The composition of pure diopside is CaMgSi_{2}O_{6}. Cr diopside is defined here as containing between 1 and 1.4 wt% Cr_{2}O_{3}.
