Chloritoid

Chloritoid is a silicate mineral of metamorphic origin. It is an iron magnesium manganese alumino-silicate hydroxide with the formula: (Fe2+,Mg,Mn2+)Al2(SiO4)O(OH)2.  It has a specific gravity of 3.4 to 3.8.

It was named for its visual similarity to the chlorite group of minerals.
