Bundle Description

Geochemical results of till samples (1999) surveyed in the Woodstock region of southwest New Brunswick are presented.  This area of New Brunswick corresponds to NTS map sheet 21J/04.

The basal till (< 63 micron) samples were analysed for 35 trace elements using enhanced instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) and for 20 trace elements using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES).  Mercury was determined by cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (Hg-CVAAS) using a F and J scientific Hg assembly.  The samples were analysed for 7 trace elements using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).  The analyses were performed by Activation (Actlabs) Labs Ltd., Ancaster, Ontario.

The geochemical results of this survey were reported by A. Seaman, NBDNRE.

The data are published in New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources and Energy Open File 2000-3.

Analytical Package Description

Laboratory: Activation Laboratories Limited, Ancaster, Ontario

Name: ActLabs INAA + ICP-AES(20) + Hg CV-AAS + ICP-MS (more)

Till samples were dry sieved using an 8 inch sieve shaker.  The <63 µm fraction was analysed for 35 trace elements (Au + 34) using enhanced instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) and for 20 trace elements (including Bi and S) using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) following a 4-acid digestion.  Mercury analysis was done by cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (Hg-CVAAS) using a F and J scientific Hg assembly.  The samples were analysed for 7 trace elements (Bi, Ge, In, Se, Sn, Te, Tl) using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).  The analyses were performed by ActLabs Ltd. in Ancaster, Ontario.
