Bundle Description

Geochemical results of till samples surveyed in the Atholville and Charlo regions of north central New Brunswick are presented.  These areas of New Brunswick correspond to NTS map sheet 21O/15 and 21O/16.

The till (< 63 micron) samples were analysed for 12 trace elements using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS).  For determination of Ag, Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn, atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) was performed with an air acetylene flame.  Determination of Mo and V was done by atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) using a nitrous oxide acetylene flame.  Mercury was determined by cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (Hg-CVAAS) using a modified Hatch and Ott procedure.  The analyses were performed by CANTECH Laboratories in Calgary, Alberta.

The geochemical results of this survey were reported in a Master's thesis by Marni Lynne Dickson, University of New Brunswick.

The data are published in New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources and Energy Open File 2002-9.

Till samples were dry sieved using an 8 inch sieve shaker.  The <63 µm fraction was analysed for 9 trace elements (Ag, Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn) using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) with an air acetylene flame.  Mo and V were analysed by atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) using a nitrous oxide acetylene flame.  Mercury analysis was done by cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (Hg-CVAAS) using a modified Hatch and Ott procedure.  The analyses were performed by CANTECH Laboratories in Calgary, Alberta.
